Google Maps is set to receive new navigation features to make inner-city driving easier. When improved navigation launches in November, the blue line on Google Maps will offer a visual of which lane you are required to drive when making your next turn, while the map itself might showcase crosswalks, signs, and lane limitations.

The new feature in Google Maps is coming to 30 United States (US) metros and will display on Android and iOS.

It's expected that Google Maps' new feature will make driving through unfamiliar areas a bit less stressful, as it will integrate into some of the other helpful navigation features, such as lane guidance and the ability to view your routes in 3D.

Moreover, Google Maps is set to release an update to its “destination guidance” feature it displayed in July, along with highlighting your destination and the building entrance updates, the app will display nearby parking lots, location reminders, and walking directions to the front door of the building.

In addition, Google Maps is expanding its reporting system to add adverse weather conditions that might impact your driving, like low visibility, fog, snow, unplowed roadways, or flooding.

Despite these newly introduced features, Google is integrating more artificial intelligence (AI) features into the app that could help you find new places, while Waze is checking the ability to report incidents with your voice.
