Google Maps is the most widely used navigational app around the world. There are a variety of options through which you can customise and personalise your navigational experience. Google is testing additional vehicle icons that would appear on the map, providing users with more choices.

However, currently, Google Maps offers four vehicle icons to choose from, which were introduced four years ago. There hasn’t been any update ever since, but now Google is testing a customisable update that would expand colour changes too.

Google Maps new update

The new update would be offering users more than five options: sedan, SUV, Jeep, hatchback, and a model that resembles a Tesla. Moreover, they can choose the colour of the car according to their preferences like Glacier White, Night Black, Aqua Green, Poppy Red, and more.

Google Maps' older icon colours cannot be customised; rather, this is only possible with the new icons. This feature was stopped on the iPhone 16 Pro, while it is not available on the latest launched Pixel 9. As Google usually keeps its features equally for iOS and Android, hence this feature will be available for Android users shortly.

Google is becoming better, especially with its integration of Gemini for Maps; it allows users to ask questions about nearby places, and its improved lane feature helps users with easier navigation.
