Google Maps has rolled out a significant update just in time for the holiday season, allowing shoppers to browse electronics, groceries, weather alerts directly within the Maps interface.
The update has brought great improvements, with Google Maps now displaying real-time weather disruptions, including storms, floods, and other conditions that impact visibility.
It is important to note that public transit users are now capable of crowd-sourced delay reports and enhanced station information, such as detailed subway entrance locations and suggested alternative routes.

Additionally, for electric vehicle (EV) owners, Maps has received a synchronised route planning feature with charging stops, letting users share these routes directly to vehicles featuring built-in apps.
The latest feature is only available for select 2024 Chevrolet and GMC models, allowing drivers to avoid distractions, low bridges, and more by using vehicle dimensions.
Google Maps has also improved its Popular Times feature that offers traffic predictions.
This update has been introduced worldwide, but a few features such as trailer-friendly routing are restricted to specific vehicle models which is likely to be expanded in the near future.
