Recently, after rolling out the simplified bottom bar, Google is now working to redesign the pin icon for its Google Map app, introducing new colours and shapes.
The Google Maps pin is the inverted-drop-shaped icon that marks locations in Maps that the tech giant uses in various graphics, games, and promotional materials.

What’s new in Google Maps pin redesign?
With the redesign, the iconic pin shape that used to appear with a sharper point at the bottom won’t be seen anymore. Instead, Google Maps is opting for a shorter and more rounded pin with a white background, while the icon noting the category is now placed in an inner circle.
This new design is similar to the existing icon design for stars, flags, and hearts.
On top of it, the colour of some of the pins has changed. For instance, the pin used for museums will appear purple instead of teal colour. However, the pin colour for the zoo icon is going lighter.
The new shorter pin design will be less prominent compared to the previous design but will allow Google to show a more extended view of the map.
This redesign of pin shape and colours is rolling out on Google Maps for Android, iOS, and the web.
