Google last month introduced an AI-powered feature called “Take notes for me” on its video calling platform Google Meet, making it available on the web version and is now poised to integrate it on Android phones.

This AI-powered feature has been a valuable asset for users of the web version, providing them with a convenient way to review meetings and jot down key points.

Since its release in August, the feature has made Google Meet users’ experience more enhanced as it keeps the crux of what is discussed during the meeting while creating documents that can be accessed by all participants using Google Docs.

Google Meet's AI-powered summarisation tool

However, an APK teardown of the Google app v2024.09.08.673958928 version revealed that the feature will be available named “Take notes with Gemini” and is expected to have capabilities similar to Google Meet's web version.

When a user joins the Google Meeting late, the note-taker app will provide them with a proper summary of all the discussions that happened in the meeting.

The AI-powered summarisation tool promises to enhance productivity by automatically generating meeting notes and providing meeting summaries for the users.

Notably, the feature might be limited to select Workspace users, restricting its availability to certain users. These AI-generated notes will be available in English language only while support for other languages will be added shortly.

While the specific rollout date remains unconfirmed, it’s evident that Google is actively working on bringing this feature to Android.
