Google is adding a fun twist to phone calls with its latest feature, 'Audio Emoji', introduced in the Google Phone app. This new feature allows callers to express emotion and mood with sound effects linked to six different emoji options.
The Audio Emoji feature, formerly known as "Sound Reaction", is initially being introduced in the beta version (version 128) of the Google Phone app. Users can choose from a variety of sound effects, including clapping, laughing, sad, and more, each represented by emoji like clap, laugh, party, cry, poop, and sting.
When selected during a call, this Audio Emoji features a fun animation and plays a sound effect for a few seconds, adding a touch of humor and expression to the conversation.

According to Google, the Audio Emoji feature enhances phone conversations by allowing users to convey emotions and moods with a fun twist. Users can access audio emoji via a floating button within the call interface or through the overflow menu, with an option to disable the feature entirely in the settings.
While the feature is currently available to beta testers, it is expected to be rolled out to all users globally in the coming weeks. Once enabled, users can tap the “Try Audio Emoji” button and select the emoji they want to play during a call. However, it's worth noting that the audio emoji only works when the phone is in speaker mode, as reported by Tom's Guide.
As Google continues to upgrade its Phone app, Audio Emoji adds a new layer of interactivity and fun to phone conversations. Whether it's adding a round of applause, a burst of laughter, or a playful sting sound effect, AudioEmoji allows users to express themselves in a unique and engaging way while on call.
