Google Photos introduced a 'Show Less' feature which would permit users to hide faces that pops up in Memories, without having to block them from their group photos. With this feature, users would have more control over which face would show up in Memories and hence avoid unpleasant memories.
Google Photos is a photo storage app that comes loaded with premium features such as facial recognition, People Search, and Memories. Through this application, it identifies faces in your photos and puts them in one place so that one can easily search for and share one's favourite memories.
New ‘Show Less’ feature
The ‘Show Less’ feature is a milder version of the ‘Block face’ option, which completely removes faces from Memories and group photos.

One could still have the faces show up in group photos but not in Memories with the 'Show Less' option. This would be useful for those who want to avoid seeing certain faces in their memories, but not block them completely.
How does it work
Now there would be a 'Show Less' feature in Google Photos that appears to lie under the 'People & pets' section. Users would then be able to add faces to the area labelled "Hide face from memories." A dialogue box would appear that lets the user confirm this change.
Another new settings flow would be created for this and is accessible through Settings > Preferences > Memories > Hide 'People & pets'.
Now, a 'Show Less' feature is rolling out to users for more control over which faces show up in Memories. Google has also created a new support page to explain the differences between the options 'Block' and 'Show Less'.
