Google Photos seems to be working on a feature called “Presets” on Android to simplify basic video editing. Being one of the most popular apps with millions of users globally, Google Photos allows users to manage their photos easily.
Previously, the evidence of a Spotlight feature that automatically trims videos was reported. However, now Google is reportedly working on a new upgrade to diversify the photos app.

The latest APK teardown indicates that version 6.97 of Google Photos for Android suggests that the Spotlight feature is now renamed as Presets.
The new feature will offer four new automatic tools for slow motion, trimming, zooming, and tracking, making video editing within the app more enhanced and user-friendly.
These video presets are expected to be one-tap simple editing tools comprising the following options.
New Presets tools
- Basic Cut: Helps to trim the videos and enhance colouring
- Slow Mo: Applies a slow-motion effect to videos
- Zoom: Automatically zoom in and out of the video in the selected area.
- Track: Automatically tracks and zooms in on a person in the video.
These tools can be found by navigating to the selected video and then tapping edit> Presets. Moreover, Google will allow users to adjust the duration of these effects using the slider tool.
However, it appears that it isn’t possible to export a video that contains all four preset edits at once instead, users can only have the basic edits and one preset on a video.
Currently, it isn’t confirmed when this Presets feature will be rolled out to Android users.
