Google Pixel 11 leaks are already showing up as hints of new technology to improve the security system and enhance user experience.
According to recent reports, the new model Pixel 11, likely to hit markets in 2026, is stated to bring back the under-display infrared camera (IR) for face the feature last seen on the 2019 Pixel 4.
However, the newest IR-based facial unlock would prove to be more secure and versatile than existing devices using the front colour camera for unlocking faces.

According to Android Authority, Google Pixel 11 leaks suggested that the smartphone might come with an under-display infrared camera to improve the security of face unlock so that users can unlock their phones even in low-light conditions.
This technology mirrors Apple's rumoured under-display Face ID, which is a competitive push from Google to stay ahead in the market.
This feature would probably be powered by the Google Tensor G6 chipset, with an upgraded image signal processor (ISP) that includes a "lite" front end specifically to support the IR camera.

The Pixel 4 featured two IR cameras that enabled secure face unlock even in darkness. However, this technology was removed in later models, such as the Pixel 7 series, which adopted a standard face authentication system using the front colour camera.
