The launch of the Google Pixel Buds Pro was well received in 2022, and it still has a charming rank on the list of top-class wireless earbuds on the market today.

Competing against most of the ANC earbuds, the Pixel Buds Pro also comes carries various gestures and user-customisable controls, with touch-and-hold being the most significant one.

In addition to its fundamental functionality, the feature can be configured to switch between ANC and Transparency mode.

Google will remove touch-and-hold feature from Pixel Buds

The Pixel Buds allows users to personalise this gesture to read phone notifications with the help of Google Assistant. Google appears to be shedding this remarkable functionality of the feature-rich Pixel Buds Pro.

According to a proficient Pixel Buds Pro user on Reddit, activating the touch-and-hold gesture has started displaying this message: "Touch and hold won't read notifications anymore," requiring them to say "read notifications" to have any notifications read back.

This means that from simply listening to notifications on the earbuds with the touch-and-hold gesture, users will now be compelled to pronounce the two-word command to have notifications read to them.

Validating the issue, another Redditor brought the same to light a few days ago.
