Google Pixel phones are gearing up to introduce Satellite connectivity as it has emerged as a crucial safety feature on iPhones, and now Android phones, particularly Google Pixel devices, are gearing up to introduce a similar capability. An upcoming feature dubbed "Satellite SOS" is in the works for Pixel phones, enabling users to contact emergency services even without cellular or Wi-Fi signals.

While the feature is not yet fully functional, Pixel phone users can already find a "Satellite SOS" option within the "Safety & Emergency" settings section. Further exploration by 9to5Google on rooted Pixel phones revealed a detailed menu explaining the functioning of Satellite SOS.

According to Gizmochina, the Satellite SOS page explains that Pixel users will be able to communicate with emergency services and share their location using Google Maps in situations where traditional signals are unavailable.

To enable this service, Google will need to collect personal data such as the user's name, phone number linked to their Google account, and up to three emergency contacts. Additionally, information like the user's location, device details, and specifics of the emergency will be shared with both emergency responders and satellite service providers.

Although Google has not specified the countries where Satellite SOS will be accessible, a link to a Garmin Search and Rescue Insurance plan suggests Garmin's involvement. While demo features are currently available but not operational, the exact timeline for the full rollout of Satellite SOS remains uncertain.

Nevertheless, the widespread appearance of the setting across Pixel devices and the detailed menu associated with it indicate that a launch could be imminent.
