Google announced the Play Store’s “Collections” feature in July which has now started to widely roll out in the US. The "Collections" feature allows Play Store users to group the installed apps by topic and receive information about them through a home screen widget.

The Collections widget is now widely available in the United States and can be accessible through a phone that supports Android 12.

Google Play Store “Collections” feature

The Collections feature automatically organises the app into seven categories including Game, Read, Watch, Listen, Shop, Social, and Food.

Tapping any of the options opens a full-screen feed with various card carousels. For instance, tapping the “Watch” topic will show recommendations from all installed video streaming apps.

Similarly, tapping the “Listen” topic will allow users to continue listening to songs or new album releases in their installed music streaming apps. However, an eight feed is for the “App library” that serves as an alternate app launcher.

The search giant also revealed during its launch that in the future, the feature will offer four more categories including Dating, Travel and Events, Health and Fitness, and Sports.

Currently, the Collections feature is available in the US with version 42.5.15 of the Play Store and Google is working on a wider release shortly.
