Google unveiled the Pixel 9 series at the Made by Google event on August 13 with several upgrades, including a new Pixel “Sound Matters” collection for ringtones, notifications, and alarm sounds.

The sound collections are inspired by the sounds of the African Savanna which is a teamwork of Google and wildlife sound recordists in remote areas of Botswana and Zimbabwe, the two neighbouring Southern African nations.

According to Google, these sounds were recorded in late 2023 during the states’ rainy season which is the best time to showcase nature’s beauty.
