Google TV’s new features
From making it easier for Google TV users to control their smart home to staying updated regarding one’s favourite sports, the platform is introducing the following new features.
AI Overviews on Google TV
Starting to roll out today, Google TV is getting a few AI features previously announced for the Streamer, including Google Gemini-powered Overviews in listings.
The AI-powered feature will help summarise what a show or movie is about by providing season-by-season breakdowns. The summaries will also include people and critics reviews, and content advisories.
Google TV Sports page
A new Sports page for sports lovers has been integrated into Google TV. This feature will be accessible from the “For You” tab, showing live and upcoming games and updates from your favourite teams. It will also include YouTube highlights, commentary, and other personalised recommendations.
AI screensaver
Another notable addition is the AI screensaver. Google is utilising generative AI to allow users to create custom screensaver art by providing it with their descriptions or prompts.
The feature also gives users the option to relive their favourite memories by displaying Google Photos as a screensaver. Now, when you are not actively watching TV, an improved ambient screensaver will convert the TV screen into a personalised canvas.
Additionally, alongside the new Google TV Streamer, Google now allows users to choose from new art TVs such as Hisense and TCL, smart projectors like Vankyo, Epson, and XGIMI, and smart monitors such as Asus.
The company is also expanding Google TV to more regions, including Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
