Google TV has removed the updated Freeplay app, which was initially launched on the Google TV Streamer due to an unknown issue. It began to introduce more supported devices all over the United States (US) in September that simplifies browsing Google’s 150+ options.

The news came under light after 9to5Google found that the app is no longer available on any device except Alphabet-owned flagship streaming box, but Google has addressed this issue in a statement to the outlet and stated that it “discovered an issue that can increase crashes for some,” and to fix this issue, the search engine giant has disabled the app until the fix is implemented.

Google stated: “While rolling out the new Google TV Freeplay guide, we discovered an issue that can increase crashes for some users. We have disabled access to the new guide on affected devices until the fix is in place. The fix will begin rolling out soon, and the updated guide will be available for all Google TV devices in the coming months.”

However, users will still be able to enjoy free channels streaming on the platform, the revised app received a few significant changes in user interface (UI) elements that allow sorting by personal picks, genre, and more.

Furthermore, the fix is set to be done “soon,” but it will certainly want its unified free channels guide available to all the users shortly.  If someone hasn’t experienced the latest app, it will be available soon in the “coming months” on eligible devices.
