It seemed like a common Google practice to release the latest Pixel series with the latest Android update, but with the release of the Pixel 9 series, the tradition appears to have been dropped, as the entire Pixel 9 series is running on almost a year old Android 14 update.

As the development comes amid the Android 15 update undergoing the inspection phase since April this year, the latest Android OS should be dropped to smartphones in a public release.

Citing an Android Authority correspondent, Android Police reported that Google has updated the release notes for the Android Beta Exit over-the-air (OTA) which tones down Pixel phones to Android 14.

The release notes now vividly mentions that Android 15 will be released in October.

The development is sufficient for those eager to get Android 15, helping them to choose either to go ahead with the Android 15 beta version or retreat back to the stable Android 14. If one opts for the former option, they must overlook the Android Beta Exit OTA update prompt for the next one month or more.

Although it has sent the tech industry in a state of confusion as to what prompted Google suddenly updated the Android 14 release notes and hint at Android 15's public release date.
