In view of more and more citizens opting for electric vehicles (EVs) to ensure eco-friendly mobility, the federal government of Pakistan is making strides to widen the availability of EV charging stations in the country.

The development stepped into the spotlight during the fourth session on EV Policy, slated to be implemented soon, presided over by the Federal Minister for Industries, Production and National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain.

Praising the performance of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the federal minister directed it to ensure the installation of EV charging stations across all petrol pumps in Islamabad, as reported by Geo.tv.

During the EV policy session, the minister also announced that the top 120 students of the federal board will be offered electric bikes, with the government aiming to provide 39,000 E-bikes and 1,900 E-rikshaws at subsidised rates.

The CDA also briefed the minister on the development of 40 EV charging stations at motorways and national highways.

In line with the prime minister's vision of transforming Islamabad into a model city, Tanveer stated that the entire process of establishing EV charging stations will be digitised to ensure transparency and efficiency.
