While fans have been eagerly awaiting updates regarding the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) since its announcement, an ex-Rockstar developer has disclosed the reason behind the second trailer’s delay.
GTA 6 trailer delay
Mike York, a former developer at Rockstar Games, who also worked on GTA 5, noted that delaying GTA 6 is a part of the publisher’s marketing strategy as it wants to maintain the hype around the game as usual.
Taking to his YouTube channel, York stated: “Rockstar is very secretive about what they do and this is a really cool tactic in a sense because it creates allure, it creates mystery and it creates people talking about it without them having to do anything.”
“They could easily release the trailer date but don’t do it on purpose because it’s a really, really good marketing tactic in a sense,” the developer added.
Notably, the first and only trailer for GTA 6 was released on December 4, 2023, which revealed that the GTA 6 will be set in a fictional Vice City, reminiscent of Miami, and will feature the first playable female character in the franchise.
The GTA 6 will likely be released in the Fall of 2025, as per Take-Two Interactive’s announcement earlier this year.
