Halo 2 is marking its milestone anniversary with its own celebration rather than within Halo Infinite. The newly rebranded Halo Studios announced that Halo Infinite will receive an update called Operation: The Great Journey on November 5. The update includes a classic third-person mode and a playlist offering a nostalgic "rewind" experience.

The Delta Arena playlist will bring back classic Halo gameplay, removing modern abilities and instead featuring the 2004 settings in a 2024 release.

What to expect from Halo 2’s Operation: The Great Journey

Players will lose the ability to clamber up ledges, players will collide, jumps will have the familiar floaty feel, and sprinting will be absent.

Additionally, fan-made classic Halo 2 maps created with Forge, including iconic battlefields like Midship and Lockout, will return, with Lockout receiving a lush, overgrown facelift. These updates are designed to evoke nostalgic emotions in players.

The Master Chief Collection will also be updated, featuring a rebuilt version of the legendary Halo 2 demo from E3 2003, now available for PC. Halo Studios has recognised the demand for enhanced, fast-paced content delivery, addressing the shift in player consumption patterns.
