OpenAI, a rising star in the booming world of AI, is making waves with its innovative platform ChatGPT. They recently launched a GPT store, which is like an app store but for AI tools. This store allows developers to share their creations and access a wide range of AI models, fostering a collaborative and exciting space.

Now, OpenAI is taking things a step further by developing a way for these developers to get paid for their work. It's a great time to be in the world of AI, and OpenAI is at the forefront of the revolution.

Confirming the development, OpenAI — taking to X (formerly Twitter) said: “We’re partnering with a small group of US builders to test usage-based GPT earnings. Our goal is to create a vibrant ecosystem where builders are rewarded for their creativity and impact and we look forward to collaborating with builders on the best approach to get there.”

The tweet hints at an early launch of the ChatGPT store and if as per the details the payment model works well it will be a good opportunity for developers to earn money by creating custom GPT models.

GPT store's payment model

Following the app store model, OpenAI's ChatGPT store will likely compensate developers based on how often their AI tools are used. This pay-per-play system incentivises creating valuable and popular GPTs. However, the new frontier of AI comes with challenges. OpenAI is grappling with issues like content theft, copyright concerns, and even potential misuse by students. It'll be interesting to see how they navigate these hurdles and bring their payment plan to life.
