Every social media platform, be it a messaging app like WhatsApp or a short video-making platform like TikTok, comes with a feature to block or unblock people.

Similarly, TikTok too enables users to choose who can follow them and see their content, and who cannot.

How to know if you are blocked on TikTok

1. Try to follow them

  1. Go to the search bar on the ‘Discover’ page, type their username, and go to their profile page.
  2. Tap on ‘Follow,’ If a message appears on your screen saying ‘you can’t follow this account,’ this is a sign that you might have been blocked by that user.
  3. Additionally, if their bio and its videos are not visible to you, and you see a message saying "You can't view this person's videos due to their user privacy settings," it’s another indication that you are blocked.

2. Check your following list

If you follow the person you think has blocked you, navigate to your ‘Following’ of your account and look for that user’s account.

If the account is not on that list, and you know that you never willingly unfollowed them, then it’s a sign that the user has blocked you. However, users do also have the option to simply ‘Remove this follower’ from their account.

3. Check your comments and tags on their videos

Go to the notification bar appearing on the homepage of your TikTik profile, and tap on a comment or mention you left on that user’s video.

If you are unable to view the video, it’s an indication that you’ve been blocked.

QUICK TIP: A straightforward approach is to ask one of your TikTok friends who follows the same account if they can see the account's bio and videos.
