The 5G network is the latest modem technology which came into being nearly three years ago and has been adopted in various parts of the world.

Some of the most prominent electronics manufacturers have started integrating it all across the world, particularly in the US and European countries. Yet its adoption isn’t seen on a considerable scale as only a few carriers and manufacturers are boasting it.

Turn off 5G on Android

The 5G network can easily be disabled on your Android by following the steps listed below:

  1. Navigate to the settings of your device.
  2. Now go to “Connections” OR “Wireless & Networks” OR “Network & Internet,” depending upon which Android device you’re using.
  3. Now tap on “Mobile Networks” or “Cellular Networks,” whichever appears on your device.
  4. Then select “Network Mode” OR “Network Type.” Here you’ll see a list of supported networks on your Android device.
  5. Now if “5G/LTE/3G/2G (auto connect)” is by default selected, then you need to choose any other network type without 5G.
  6. Now just restart your device and that’s it.

Since its launch, the 5G technology has mostly been featured in the smartphones developed by Google and Samsung.

This technology evidently offers faster data speeds, be it internet or mobile networks, but the bargaining is that your device will start draining its battery rapidly.

If your device is natively set to the 5G network, and unfortunately the technology is nonexistent in your location, as is the case, this could precisely be the reason for your phone’s battery draining.

Note: Some carriers and manufacturers have either disabled the option or hidden it, so if you don't see the "Network Mode" OR “Network Type” option, contact your carrier for more help.
