Did you ever get perplexed about why a yellow light blinks sometimes on your Alexa-enabled Echo device?

Don’t freak if you did, because this yellow light doesn’t get triggered in response to some sort of error or mishap, instead, it’s an indication of some Alexa-specific functions.

Gad Insider dedicates this article entirely to providing you with the reasons behind this yellow flashing and its cure.

Reason for yellow flashing on your Amazon Echo device

There could be several reasons that cause the flashlight located at the bottom of your Amazon Eco device to blink yellow. Here are a few of them.

  • You have missed a call or unread message from an Alexa contact.
  • There is an unchecked previous reminder alert for you.
  • There is an unread notification on your Alexa app.
  • Your Amazon order for a product has either been shipped or delivered.
  • An update has been made regarding the return procedure on Amazon for a returned item.

Your Alexa device won't blink if you get regular missed calls, SMS texts, or direct messages on social media. This is usually triggered because of an unread or missed communication from an Alexa contact.

How to disable yellow flashlight on Amazon Echo dot

Note that Alexa doesn’t directly allow you to "turn off" this option for your communication Alexa phone and text notifications, but there is a way you can get around them.

  • Go to your Alexa app and go to Devices. Then, select the Echo device you want to alter.
  • Here on the right side of the screen, you'll see a moon icon.
  • Tap this icon to enable the Do Not Disturb mode. The icon turns purple once it’s done.
