Following a four-year legal battle between the two companies, Fortnite resulted in being removed from all of Apple’s platforms, however, due to the efforts of Epic Games the countries that fall under the European Union (EU) were still able to run the game.

If you are a Fortnite enthusiast but reside in the US, Canada, UK, or any other country that does not come under the EU, it is still possible to download and install Fortnite on iPhone and iPad.

Gadinsider has brought you a step-by-step guide that will help you download Fortnite on iOS devices, however, make sure to have a paid Apple Developer account which costs $99 per year.

Here's how to install Fortnite

Find decrypted IPA

Firstly, find a decrypted iOS package App Store (IPA) file, an archive of the iOS app that is encrypted by default. To decrypt IPA, a jailbroken iOS device is required.

Most of the IPA files available are for iPad, although some will be compatible with both iPad and iPhone. These files usually come directly from Epic’s server, and people figure out how to decrypt them themselves.

Set up custom bundle ID

At this step, you will require a paid developer account.

  1. Log into the developer website,
  2. Navigate to the account tab.
  3. Once you’re on the account tab, click on “Identifiers” under “Program resources”.
  4. Now, click the “plus” button next to “Identifiers”. This will set up a new App ID called Bundle ID.
  5. In the list of capabilities below, enable both “Extended Virtual Addressing” and “Increased Memory Limit” to prevent your app from crashing.

Sideload Fortnite on your iOS device

A PC is required to install Fortnite onto your device. You can download and install Sideloadly, and connect your iOS device to the computer.

  1. The app will ask you to sign in to your Apple Account connected with the paid developer program.
  2. Select your device.
  3. Then, drag the decrypted IPA into the app, and click on the advanced options.
  4. Below advanced options, deselect “Use automatic bundle ID”, and change the bundle ID.
  5. Now, hit start and select your team ID.

In this way, Fortnite will start installing. It might take a minute or two and you will be able to open the game on your iOS device.
