iPhone users can lock their devices using custom automation, the Home Screen button, or even with the help of Siri. However, with iOS 16, Apple has given iPhone users the ability to lock their phone screen using a shortcut.

The shortcut comes with the Shortcut app which improves accessibility for people who like to leave the auto-lock timer to never and creates different ways to lock their iPhones without having to press the side button.

Guide to setting up iPhone Lock Screen shortcut

Firstly, make sure you have an iOS 16.4 or later.

  1. Open the “Shortcuts app” on your iPhone
  2. Now tap the “+” in the top right corner to add a new Shortcut
  3. Tap “Add Action” > use the search bar to pull up Lock Screen
  4. Then, tap “Done” to add the basic Shortcut or customise it
  5. While editing the Shortcut, tap the small dropdown arrow at the top to add it to your Home Screen
  6. Now, press and hold on to the Lock Screen Shortcut to rename it.

In this way, you can get creative with the automation options or create a basic Shortcut for the Lock Screen.
