Instagram is a popular social media platform that allows you to share photos and videos with your friends and followers. Sometimes, you may be tagged in a post by someone else, either to show that you are in the photo or video or to get your attention. However, not all tags are welcome, and you may want to remove yourself from a post that you do not like or do not want to be associated with.


Untag yourself on Instagram

Untag yourself from posts on Instagram

  1. Open Instagram and log in.
  2. Tap your profile icon at the bottom right.
  3. Select the 'Tagged' tab to see the posts you are tagged in.
  4. Choose the post you want to untag from.
  5. Tap your username on the post.
  6. Click 'Remove me from post,' then confirm to remove the tag.

Hide a tagged post from your profile

  1. Open Instagram and log in.
  2. Tap your profile icon at the bottom right.
  3. Go to the 'Tagged' tab to see tagged posts.
  4. Select the post you want to hide.
  5. Tap your username on the post.
  6. Click 'Hide from my profile,' then confirm. The tag remains on the post.

Manually approve tags

  1. Open Instagram and log in.
  2. Tap your profile icon at the bottom right.
  3. Access Settings via the three lines in the top-right.
  4. Navigate to Privacy > Tags.
  5. Enable 'Manually approve tags' to review tags before they appear on your profile.
