Huawei CEO Yu Chengdong announced the release of the Mate 70 series phones for the fourth quarter of 2024 during the Huawei Developer Conference (HDC) 2024. However, a recent report from a Weibo tipster has revealed some details about the upcoming series.

The tipster disclosed that all models in the Huawei Mate 70 series will feature customised top-level 1.5K panels. Some models are expected to have four-equal-depth screens, while others might come with compact flat screens.

The tipster also mentioned that Huawei is working on an ultrasonic fingerprint solution. This suggests that the upcoming series could include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, potentially replacing the optical sensor used in previous models.

Additionally, the Mate 70 series is expected to include larger batteries that use different substrate materials, potentially offering higher energy density. This would allow the devices to pack more capacity without becoming bulkier.

Huawei is also developing a tablet equipped with the efficient Kirin 9100 chipset, which might be released alongside the Mate 70 series later this year, in November.

Huawei launched its Mate 60 series flagship at the end of August last year. The delay in the Mate 70 series could be attributed to the company’s efforts to integrate HarmonyOS, which is likely to enhance the overall user experience.
