Huawei has finally launched its highly anticipated Pocket 2 foldable smartphone in China, boasting top-notch specifications and an enhanced folding design.

The Huawei Pocket 2 resembles its predecessor, the Pocket S, featuring a clamshell folding design supported by a horizontal hinge. The device retains dual circular modules for the rear cameras and a round cover display. 

Notably, Huawei features a new hinge built with aerospace-grade "rocket steel" materials and 2nd gen Kulun glass technology for durability. In its unfolded state, the device measures a mere 7.25mm (7.35mm for the Leather variant) and weighs approximately 200 grams. Moreover, the Huawei Pocket 2 boasts an IPX8 water resistance rating.

Huawei Pocket 2 specifications

The primary display is a tall 6.94-inch LTPO OLED panel offering a resolution of 2690 x 1136, 2200 nits of peak brightness, 420 PPI pixel density, 1 to 120Hz variable refresh rate, 1440Hz PWM dimming, 300Hz touch sampling rate, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. Additionally, the device features a 1.15-inch OLED screen on the back with a pixel density of 296 PPI and a resolution of 360 x 360.

Huawei Pocket 2 is powered by the Kirin 9000S processor, paired with storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB and 12GB of RAM. The device runs on HarmonyOS 4.0 out of the box and is fueled by a 4,520mAh battery supporting 66W wired fast charging 40W wireless fast charging, and 7.5W wireless reverse charging.

The Pocket 2 boasts an XMAGE quad-camera setup on the rear, comprising a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto shooter with OIS and 3x optical zoom, and a 2-megapixel hyperspectral camera powered by AI. For selfies and video calls, it features a 10.7-megapixel front sensor.

Additional features include dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2, USB Type-C, NFC support, and two-way satellite communication. Notably, the Pocket 2 introduces a UV Sunscreen test mode, enabling users to verify sunscreen application accuracy using the camera and cover display.

According to Gizmochina, the Huawei Pocket 2 is available in Tahitian Gray, Rococo White, Taro Purple, and Elegant Black colour options, with the latter two offering leather backs. Prices start from 7,499 Yuan for the base 256GB model, while the 512GB and 1TB configurations are priced at 7,999 Yuan and 8,999 Yuan, respectively. 

The Huawei Pocket 2 Art Custom Edition, featuring a unique design and 16GB RAM + 1TB storage, costs 10,999 Yuan. Pre-orders begin on February 22, 2024, with the first sale scheduled for March 1, 2024.
