Huawei is reportedly integrating its latest Kirin 5G chip with enhanced performance in the upcoming Pura 80 series. This claim contradicts earlier reports suggesting the flagship series will adopt the same Kirin 9020 chipset as the Mate 70 smartphones.
A credible tipster, SmartPikachu indicated that the entire Huawei Pura 80 series will be equipped with the latest Kirin 5G chip, designed to deliver significantly improved performance. According to the tipster, the Chinese tech giant is set to launch an upgraded System on Chip (SoC) in the second quarter of this year instead of reusing the Kirin 9020 for its upcoming flagship series.
Over recent years, Huawei faced challenges after its Kirin chips were banned in the United States (US), prompting the company to rely on third-party chips. However, in 2023, Huawei made an exceptional comeback with the Mate 60 series, marking the revival of its in-house Kirin chipsets.
Currently, another report suggested that Huawei's upcoming flagship models will incorporate future Kirin chipsets, potentially named 9030, 9040, and beyond, indicating a continuous evolution of Huawei’s proprietary technology.
Another leak revealed impressive hardware upgrades in the Pura 80 series, including enhanced satellite communication features and massive battery capacities compared to its predecessors. The series is rumoured to feature a 6,000mAh battery or even higher-density power units, ensuring extended durability.
It’s important to note that all details regarding the Huawei Pura 80 series remain speculative and are yet to be confirmed by the company ahead of its official launch.
