The Hub Power Company Limited (HUBC) announced on Thursday an ambitious plan to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Pakistan.

The company shared this initiative in a recent stock filing, highlighting its commitment to supporting EV infrastructure nationwide.

As EV adoption grows globally, Hubco aims to make EV travel more convenient within Pakistan by placing charging stations on motorways, highways, and in major cities. Additionally, there would be "destination charging" points at various popular locations.

Hubco Green (Private) Limited initiative

To drive this initiative, Hubco is creating a new venture, “Hubco Green (Private) Limited," focused solely on establishing this EV charging network. This move aligns with Hubco's commitment to sustainable energy and supporting green technology.

Moreover, the company is working on building a local assembly plant for “new energy vehicles (NEVs)” in Pakistan. For this, Hubco’s “Mega Motor Company” recently signed agreements with “BYD Auto Industry Company Limited” for supply, manufacturing, and technical collaboration.

These agreements follow the Distribution Agreement signed earlier this year in June, aiming to bring BYD’s eco-friendly vehicles to Pakistan.

The introduction of “EV charging stations” would make Pakistan’s motorways and cities more accessible to EV users, supporting both local and international travellers.
