Meta-owned Instagram is used by millions of users worldwide. The app keeps on updating its features to facilitate its users and is now adding a “photo dump” feature.

Previously, in 2017, the leading social media platform added the ability to post up to 10 photos or videos in a single swipeable carousel post.

However, now Instagram is doubling the amount of content by rolling out the "photo dump" feature that will enable users to add up to 20 photos or videos to their news feed.

In the beginning, the app was all about users sharing a single perfect picture with their friends and family, but as the years passed, the idea of a “photo dump” gained popularity, making people follow the worldwide trend of posting photo collections.

The feature has brought Instagram closer to TikTok’s carousel feature that allows up to 35 photos in a single post.

While some users might be excited about the update, others may also see it as killing the simplicity of Instagram as it continues to move further away from the simple photo-sharing app it was a decade ago.

It is overall a great addition for photo enthusiasts, while users with short attention spans won’t likely be interested in swiping through more than 10 slides of a post, especially when the app is already stuffed with other content formats, such as reels, stories, and notes.

This feature is likely to roll out to all users soon. So it might take a little while before you see it activated on your account.
