Instagram, the Meta-owned social media platform, is reportedly working on a unique feature exclusively for its iPhone app, a new widget which would enable users to open the story camera feature from the lock screen.
It should be noted that the new feature is being integrated into the latest update of the app, meaning that users will need to install the latest version of the Instagram app on their iPhones in order to avail the said feature.
As the feature is serving as one-tap shortcut, making the app ready to capture memorable or picturesque views in an urgency, this fulfills the company's commitment to enhance user experience with each coming update, as reported by 9to5Mac.

For those fond of pictures, or have an eye to secure exceptional moments in the eyes of the camera, this new widget is no less than a bliss as it facilitates them, making less significant the need to unlock the phone before using Instagram to upload a story.
Although it's a widely accepted fact that iPhone's own Camera app is feature-rich enough to easily outperform Instagram's Story camera, a substantial chunk of iPhone users is inclined to prioritise the latter over the former.
What validates this eagerness is that the Meta-owned social media app offers a range of filters and additional effects so the users get to enhance the images and videos they record.
Reports are also suggesting that the company is also working on another feature: app clip, which would let users watch Reels feed of Instagram without having to download the app.
Meanwhile, the Instagram team has not yet created an iPad app. If you wish to access the new Lock Screen widget, make sure to update your Instagram app on your iPhone to access all the newest features.
