Internet down in Pakistan: Broadband, PTCL users among most affected

In what seems to be an indication of an impending IT disaster, the internet in Pakistan is reportedly down for the past couple of hours on Wednesday. 

The harrowing development has emerged from a flood of complaints lodged by netizens in Pakistan.

As reflected in the complaints, users of PTCL and broadband internet services are said to comprise the biggest chunk of the affected segment in the country

Addressing troubled users in the country, PTCL officials said that the disruption was caused by unidentified issues spotted in the submarine internet cable which is globally interconnected.

Being thoroughly examined at the moment, the issue will soon be resolved, PTCL spokesperson said.

PTCL internet is down is not the only digital breakout currently grabbing headlines in the country, but internet users.

“We confirm that PTCL network is facing data outage in various cities due to which connectivity has been affected. Our teams are actively working to resolve and rectify the issue at the earliest,” the PTCL spokesperson said in a response to ProPakistani

The banking sector, telecom services and all the industries that heavily rely on the internet were in the grip of severe disturbance and awaiting swift measures in place to have their business operations functioning properly. 

This chaos comes on the heels of the second wave of the prolonged Microsoft outage with which the entire world was grappling with and which led to millions of Microsoft devices crashing to an irreversible extent.
