In what serves as an enlightening development around the internet outage intact for over a month and being attributed to an impaired submarine cable, Bytes for All (B4A) has released a digital forensics report.
Titled “Slow Internet in Pakistan and the Smokescreen of VPNs”, the report talks at length about the issue, clearing the grey area between government's contradictory claims and the real cause of internet slowdown in Pakistan.
The reports clarified that the deteriorating internet access did not stem from Sharks attacks or excessive use of VPNs by citizens, stating that the real root cause of the problem lies in technical issues.

While shedding light on the real problem, the publication in its report also advocates for an uncontrolled digital environment which is crucial for the socio-economic fabric to thrive in the country.
Among the key findings of the B4A report, the government's deliberate role in slowing down internet services was found to be the factor at play behind the impeded internet.
Interestingly and contrary to the government's shifting of burden on excessive VPN use and damaged submarine cable, the forensics report outlined that VPNs serve as a catalyst to improve internet speeds.
