iPhone users don’t have to wait anymore to have a closer look at yet-to-release iOS 18 features, since Apple is set to release the fifth iteration of the iOS 18 beta today for the developers.

This iOS 18 beta 5 release is in advance of its release to public beta users which includes some really exciting features that will be available for testing only.

The new beta version of iOS 18 has embraced various, including some changes to two of the most used iOS apps Safari and Photos.

This new release has come just a few days after Apple dropped beta 4 to those who are brave enough to install the developer beta on their devices.

iOS 18 beta 5 new features

Safari updates

The iOS 18 beta 5 includes the Safari updates in which Apple has revealed a new feature called Distraction Control that enables iPhone users to hide distracting materials such as sign-in banners, and content overlays on the website window.

Apple has also addressed some other distracting design elements that have come to web pages recently.

Photos app

Apple has also updated the way the Photos app works in iOS 18. It has introduced a new home view, with Collections, and customisation options for organising Photos in your own way.

It has also removed the Carousel view to simplify the overall look and feel of the app.

Similarly, Apple's All Photos area has also been updated to display a larger portion of the grid, have added Recently Saved content to the Recent Days collection instead of having them separated, and the placement of photo albums has also been elevated for users with multiple albums.

All these recent changes seem to address many of the initial criticisms about the Photos redesign.

Apple is set to release the iOS 18 in the fall on your iPhone, other Apple devices such as macOS Sequoia and iPadOS 18.
