Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE 4, expected to launch this spring, is likely to get a new name, iPhone 16E. Rumours suggest Apple may drop the SE branding, making this shift a significant step in the iPhone lineup.

The change might help Apple position the phone as part of the latest series, appealing to a broader audience.

iPhone SE 4 features and upgrades

The iPhone SE 4 (or iPhone 16E) is set to be the most advanced SE model yet. It adopts a design similar to the iPhone 14, featuring a 6.1-inch OLED display with a notch and Face ID.

Moreover, powered by the latest A18 chip with Apple Intelligence, it ensures faster performance and efficiency. The addition of a USB-C port brings quicker connectivity, while the 48MP rear camera from the iPhone 15 offers sharp and detailed photos.

For connectivity, Apple’s first in-house 5G modem replaces Qualcomm's, marking a significant step forward in innovation. These upgrades make it a powerful addition to Apple’s lineup.

Why iPhone 16E name makes sense?

The rumoured $499 price for the iPhone SE 4 seems low, especially given its advanced components like the A18 chip and OLED display. By branding it as the iPhone 16E and pricing it closer to $599, Apple could position it between the iPhone 15 and the upcoming iPhone 16.

Furthermore, switching to the 16E name also eliminates the "budget" stigma of the SE branding. Reportedly, a modern design and high-end features, this new name could help Apple market the phone as part of its flagship lineup.
