Spotify is enabling users with unstable internet connections by testing a playlist named “Your Offline Mix.” This playlist will allow the users to access their favourite recently played songs when they are facing any problems with the internet connection.

In the past, Spotify didn’t allow music streaming when users lost internet connectivity, such as in subway tunnels, or due to unpaid internet bills. The workaround consists of manually downloading individual songs, playlists or albums, which could prove to be inconvenient and unable to capture the evolving preferences of users.

The new feature could immensely benefit enthusiastic Spotify users, as well as frequent travellers. Nonetheless, not all of Spotify’s recent features have been favourable. In the earlier part of this year, the platform introduced an AI DJ, which received mixed reviews. It was considered a market exploration tool which intruded on listeners' songs with a voice resembling that of a company employee.

Recently, Spotify decided to lay off around 200 employees, which is about 2% of its workforce, according to The New York Times.
