The federal government on Monday slashed the price of petrol by Rs2.07 per litre to Rs247.3 per litre in order to provide relief to the people who have long suffered from crippling inflation

Notifying the development the Ministry of Finance announced that the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has also been reduced by Rs3.40 per litre, bringing it down to Rs246.29 per litre from Rs249.69 per litre.

It should be noted that the new prices will be effective from October 1.

The price of kerosene and light diesel oil (LDO) has also been reduced. The notifiction stated that the kerosene price had been reduced by Rs3.57 per litre and the LDO by Rs1.03 per litre. Kerosene oil will be available for Rs54.90 and LDO will be available for Rs40.90.

On the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the ministry has reduced the price of petrol by Rs28.57 and diesel by Rs37.51 during last two months.

The recent reduced prices in crude oil in the international market is a significant factor contributing to the expected price reduction in Pakistan.
