Familiar with macOS Sonama, the twentieth and the highest-end software update of macOS? It's saddening if you're not because the latest macOS update once became the talk of the town.

Just like it did begin gaining traction and significant space in headlines, macOS Sonama 14.6 has finally received a feature long awaited on the M3 Macbook Pro.

Support for dual external display is something the MacBook seek the most to make the most of the immersive screen resolution and pixel density instilled in the MacBook's industry-leading hardware.

With the new feature, Sonama 14.6 enables the 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro to have two external displays up to 5K at 60Hz. This incredible support for dual display resembles the one previously offered on the M3 MacBook Air.

Despite Apple's pledge to offer this support in March, non-Pro/Max MacBook Pro models only had support for a single display within them before this feature was available.

Let's also familiarise you with a downside as well: In order to exploit dual display support, the MacBook Pro must be in the clamshell mode with the lid closed so that both displays can be powered.

In case the MacBook Pro gets opened, one of the displays will be disconnected. Moreover, to ensure consistent connection of both the external displays, the external displays must support a video connection over USB-C or Thunderbolt 3.
