macOS 14 Sonama, the top-of-the-line update to macOS, comes with a wide range of features that soomthly leave behind all we've been getting with previous macUI updates. The update is named after Californian wine region.

Among the new range of feature-rich upgradation, resting at the top are modified widgets, a new Game Mode, the ability to turn web pages into web apps, alongside a touch of some fun features in video conferencing apps.

Despite the availability of Sonama macOS 14.3, Apple in indulged in working on macOS 14.4, while updates are frequently issued for developer and public versions of the beta — first beta released to developers on January 29 while the fourth arrived with testers on February 20.

macOS Sonoma 14.3 released on January 22 with Collaborative Playlists for Apple Music and a patch for a zero-day vulnerability. macOS Sonoma 14.2 released on December 11 with Enhanced AutoFill, Contact Key Verification, and various app updates. 

cmacOS Sonoma 14.1.2 released on November 30 fixed two exploited zero-day WebKit flaws, which were also patched in iOS and iPadOS with version 17.1.2. Apple also released Safari 17.1.2 for Ventura and older to address the same exploits.

macOS 14.4 Sonama release date and features

If Apple is to follow the 6-week gap window — like it did with macOS 14.3 (releasing first beta version to developers on December 12 and full-scale version released after six weeks on January 22) — it might make its way out to Macbooks around the mid of March 2024.

It is not clear what the contents of macOS 14.4 will be, however, what's known is that new emoji including Broken Chain, Brown Mushroom, Head Shaking Horizontally, Head Shaking Vertically, Lime, and Phoenix are expected. There are also several alternative direction emoji coming. There may also be updates related to the Vision Pro in the next Mac update.
