Meta is reportedly integrating a display of some sort into its next-generation Ray-Ban smart glasses, slated for a 2025 launch. This development coincides with efforts by Google and Samsung to incorporate similar technology into their Android XR devices.

According to the Financial Times, Meta is gearing up to release a new iteration of Ray-Ban smart glasses “as soon as next year,” featuring a basic display for notifications powered by Meta AI. A more advanced version of the display is expected to debut in 2025. Meta’s aim is to create smart glasses that balance innovation with affordability, aiming to enhance usability.

Meta showcased its “Orion” smart glasses, equipped with cutting-edge display back in September. However, it was quite expensive to delay its market entry. This report suggested Meta is likely to bring a less-refined form of display on the forthcoming glasses, making it more accessible.

The new Ray-Ban smart glasses are anticipated to launch in the second half of 2025, featuring a compact display designed to provide real-time notifications from Meta’s virtual assistant.

These reports emerge as Google and Samsung continue to advance their vision for Android XR. Samsung has also unveiled plans for a headset, accompanied by a pair of smart glasses similar in form to Meta’s Ray-Bans but enhanced with a display. Google stated that Android XR, along with Samsung’s headset, will officially launch in 2025.
