Meta has recently unveiled a suite of advanced features, including HD video calls, Siri integration, and more for Facebook Messenger, aimed at establishing stronger connections with family and friends.

These significant updates enhance call quality, introduce innovative tools for creativity, and offer a smoother, more immersive user experience.

Facebook's new HD video call feature

One of the standout features is high-definition (HD) video calls, which bring vivid visuals to your conversations. Users will find this feature enabled by default for calls made over Wi-Fi, while mobile data users can manually switch it on. This flexibility ensures an optimal calling experience across different networks.

Complementing the HD video calls is a new background noise suppression and voice isolation feature, designed to deliver crisp, clear audio. Meta describes this enhancement as enabling users to feel as though they are "feel more like being in a room together,” reducing any disruptions during calls for more immersive conversations.

Additionally, users can now leave audio or video messages using the “Record Message” option, ensuring that conversations can continue even if a call goes unanswered.

AI-powered backgrounds for video chats

Messenger has also taken video chat creativity to the next level with the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered adaptive backgrounds. These upcoming backgrounds allow users to personalise their video calls, adding a touch of flair and individuality to their conversations.

To enable this feature, users simply need to click on the effects icon in the video call sidebar, promising a more engaging and visually appealing experience during video chats.

Siri integration on iOS

Expanding its ecosystem, Messenger has now incorporated Siri for iOS users. With this feature, users can request Siri to make calls or send messages via Messenger, allowing for a completely hands-free experience. This integration not only enhances accessibility but also adds convenience, especially for multitaskers.

Currently, these updates are being rolled out in the United States, with plans to expand to other countries in the near future.
