In a bid to compete with social media platform Bluesky's Starter Pack feature, the Meta-owned Thread is developing a new feature that offers a list of users that help new joiners on the app to find people to catch up with.

According to TechCrunch, the feature that the Meta subsidiary Threads has up its sleeves will be an imitation of Bluesky’s popular addition, but its unique selling point is said to be suggestions including profiles chosen by Threads users.

While Threads was built on the back of Instagram’s huge fanbase, Bluesky required a push to easily connect like-minded people who may follow one another and find their posts interesting.

Unlike Threads which utilises users' contact lists shared with it to suggest their friends and family on the platform, Bluesky introduced the concept of “Starter Packs,” which are curated lists of recommendations anyone in the community can make.

These lists are based on topics of interest, geographies, industries, fan groups, languages, or anything else.

The Bluesky Starter Packs feature has gained immense traction since its debut and now websites have come to the scene that organise users' Bluesky Starter Packs into a searchable database.

Available as a tab on Bluesky users' profiles, Starter Packs is also often found shared by others in the Bluesky feed.
