Meta is set to release an upgraded version of its Quest mobile app, integrating it more deeply with its 3D social platform, Horizon Worlds.

The app, renamed ‘Meta Horizon’, features a new tab allowing users to complete quests with their phone and customise their avatars. Users can explore new worlds and interact with friends. The app, released on mobile and the web last year, retains all existing features, so users can still set up their Quest headset and browse the library.

In addition, Meta has introduced a light mode to help users switch between themes easily. The app also features a new feed to display content from creators in the mobile app.

Meta is pushing forward with its VR headset ambitions. In April, the company announced plans to license HorizonOS, its VR operating system, to companies like Lenovo and Asus. Additionally, Meta aims to add new beta titles to its app store, simplifying the process for developers to launch their games for the OS.
