Meta has acknowledged the recent software update problem that left numerous Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest 3S headsets unusable.
The company has reassured affected users that it is actively working to resolve the issue.
According to Meta's official statements on its help centre and community forum, a recent software update caused some Quest headsets to fail to start up correctly.
Notably, several users have reported the bricked Quest headset issue on Reddit and Meta’s community forums.
Initially, some users reported being denied repairs due to expired warranties. However, now, Meta has updated its support guidelines to better assist users, including those with out-of-warranty Quest devices.
The company first acknowledged this issue on December 7, initially only mentioning the Quest 3S. However, Meta’s latest statements confirm that Quest 2 and Quest 3 were also impacted.
“We are actively working on resolving the issue for all users, but in most cases, you are now able to use your device normally. If you have a device that’s still unresponsive, we’re here to help. Just reach out to us for the next steps,” the company stated.
Meta has advised users with unresponsive headsets to contact its customer support team for assistance.
That said, the timing of this issue is unfortunate, as the Meta Quest line appears to be a popular holiday gift.
