In what seems to be the initiation of a prosperous endeavour for Pakistan's lagging digital realm and drowning economy, a five-member delegation from Meta met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday in Islamabad.

Led by the Meta Asia Pacific Vice President Simon Milner, the team talked at length with the premier regarding digital collaborations to tap into the potential areas that need to be explored in the landscape of Pakistan's information technology (IT) and artificial intelligence (AI).

Deliberating on the subject of mutual growth for both Pakistan and the tech giant, the PM also reflected on the potential that lies unexplored in the country's digital realm.

Since financial support serves as the backbone of a stable and growing IT sector, he highlighted that a record-high budget has been allocated for the IT sector's growth, marking the first time in the digital history of Pakistan.

The meetup also involved talks on digital collaboration, investment opportunities, and regulatory matters in the country that need to be loosened in order to have the IT space advanced and consistent.

In favour of Meta, expansion of its services, addressing content moderation issues, and fostering local partnerships are the aspects through which Meta could benefit from Pakistan.
