Microsoft said on X (Formerly Twitter):"We can confirm the issue impacting connectivity to Microsoft services is now mitigated."

It further revealed the reason behind the outage and said that a change in a third-party internet service provider's (ISP) "managed-environment" resulted in software's disruption. The company began to look out for signs of recovery after ISP reverted the alteration.

An AT&T spokesperson said "We experienced a brief disruption connecting to some Microsoft services on our network. The issue has been resolved and connections are operating normally."

Currently, a drop in incident reports has been noticed to around 800, at 10:28am. ET, after a substantial rise to 23,000 reports earlier on September 12.

Downdetector reported that it has seen 90,000 user reports arriving within the United States for Microsoft 365, with Azure, Teams, Xbox, Bing, Microsoft Store, and others. It further added that the outage was affecting other companies too.

However, the outage has been recovered now.
