Netflix, the world’s most popular streaming service, is going to team up with Paramount Global-owned CBS Sports to produce the two much-anticipated National Football League (NFL) games on this year’s Christmas Day.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, CBS has got the broadcast rights and therefore, the NFL has decided to put two games on Christmas this year including Chiefs at Steelers, and Ravens at Texans.

As part of the one-year deal, CBS will also receive a production fee and promotional spots during these games.

The news became public nearly three months after Netflix announced in May that it agreed with the league to stream at least one game on Christmas Day in 2025 and 2026, as part of its exclusive three-season agreement with the NFL.

With the NFL deal, it is the first time Netflix has got the rights to one of the world's biggest sports leagues and the first live football streaming on the platform.

According to Bloomberg, the platform is likely to pay around $150 million for the rights to each NFL game, however, both have had a good relationship for the past couple of years.

Therefore, keeping with previous deals, CBS’s agreement with Netflix allows the games to be shown on broadcast television in the competing teams' home markets and also on mobile devices in the US.

Moreover, NFL is the most-watched sports league in the US with this year's Super Bowl game between Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers having drawn a record 123.7 million US viewers.
