If you're a content creator with a significant presence on Instagram and pissed off by the flood of fan DMs (direct messages), then brace to embrace a new Instagram feature that will set your virtual woes aside.

Instagram recently launched a new feature enabling content creators and influencers to organise message requests landing in their inboxes.

Organise DMs with new Instagram feature

Integrated under a new Instagram update, the feature will allow you to sort and filter message requests—messages sent by people you don't follow—as per various metrics including the sender's following, whether or not they are verified, or associated with a fellow creator or a brand.

Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said busy creators with the new feature can filter out the most important messages from countless strangers poking through their DMs.

“Now when you go to the requests inbox, sometimes it can be really overwhelming. There's a lot more to do to improve the inbox for creators and requests," Mosseri wrote in a post on the Meta-owned platform.

He noted that the DM-organising feature was rolled out after taking into consideration requests from numerous creators.

To try out the new functionality on Instagram, creators as well as ordinary users can click the "Sort & Filter" button on the top of the screen, and then start filtering.

The Mosseri pledged that the platform is keen to further invest in new features aimed at making DMs offer a seamless and simplified experience.
