New Notes app features on iOS18, iPadOS 18: Everything you need to know

With technology evolving, people have started preferring smartphone notes over handwritten ones for noting down random thoughts, and daily tasks, and creating checklists they can carry along.

Apple Notes, one of the best note apps used worldwide comes with various amazing features. However, the iOS and iPadOS 18 have brought several new changes including visual, and functional changes.

Following are the new features that are coming to the Notes app in iOS 18:

Smart Script

Having terrible handwriting that no one, except you, could understand frustrates everyone; however, it doesn’t seem a problem anymore as the new Smart Script feature of Apple Notes takes your handwriting and in real-time.

It changes into a writing that looks more legible and readable. This way, others with whom you’re sharing your notes with will be able to read them too.

Voice memos and transcription

This is another new feature introduced to Apple Notes in which you can create a voice memo in your note, a voice memo card, and then play this audio in the Notes app. Moreover, you can also create a live voice memo transcription in the following steps.

  1. Open a new note
  2. Tap on paperclip
  3. Now tap on record audio
  4. Then click on the caption button on the top right
  5. Tap start

Highlight text

Another new feature added is that you can also highlight your text on Notes.

  1. Select the letter, word or sentence you want to highlight
  2. Tap on the formatting button
  3. Now tap on highlighting the circle
  4. Choose your colour
  5. And your text will be highlighted
